Interview With Ronnie Line, creator of the SnapTail Fishing System

Like most experienced fishermen, Ronnie Line is constantly thinking about ways to improve his catch. After years of tournament and recreational fishing, he hit upon a concept that would take the fishing industry by storm: the SnapTail lure. It’s a concept as simple as it is revolutionary – a bait with interchangeable parts. The SnapTail worm has a space at the end of the tail where different colored snaps can be popped into place in a matter of seconds, instantly changing the presentation of the lure.

Ronnie Line explains why he came up with the SnapTail concept:
“I was looking to create a worm that had a different presentation, something totally different than any fishing worm on the market,” said Line. “And I needed something that was quick and easy to use when your out on the water and the fish are hitting – the fish aren’t going to wait for you to change baits if they don’t like the one you’re using,” he laughed.

“”Plus,“ he continued, “as an angler, I was tired of having to buy the same worm but with different colored tails. At any given time I could have 5 to 6 of the same worms with different colored tails. It took up a lot of space in my tackle box, so I though I should come up with a feature that would change the look of the worm without the hassle of bringing along a ton of tackle. I designed these lightweight snaps to pop off and on easily, changing the appearance of the worm without changing the action.”

Line explains how SnapTail’s unique design attracts fish:
“The lure’s wide tail gives fish a better chance to see the bait.† The tail comes back in the same position every time when working the worm.† No other lure on the market has that kind of memory. SnapTail expands and then automatically contracts.† With most soft plastic worms today, the body and tail straighten out and both lift up like a pencil.† The Snap Tail is different since the body always stays down level where the memory keeps the tail’s S-Type shape.”

How does the memory work?
“Well, I can’t tell you that! I can’t give away our trade secrets, but I can say there has never been a worm on the market that has this kind of look and memory.”

Does SnapTail fish like other baits?
SnapTail may be designed differently and may have more action and memory, but you fish it like any other soft bait. It’s a finesse bait. You can use a drop shot, Texas Rig, Weightless, Carolina Rig – however you like to fish.

How long have you been working on SnapTail?
“Over ten years, the technology had to catch up with the idea. Only now do we have the ability to build a soft plastic worm with the kind of memory and action I wanted. We’ve spent the past couple of years testing lures on lakes around the country. SnapTail caught quality fish on every outing. Anglers have responded from Texas to Florida saying they love the versatility. SnapTail has helped them downsize their tackle.”

Ronnie paused for just a moment before adding with a smile, “Some fishermen have even told us they’ve won their dollar back from there buddies that have been beating them every weekend.”

How It Works

SnapTail’s interchangeable color snaps easily click into place.  Use the same color snap on each side, or combine colors to attract fish. Then SnapTail’s lifelike worm action takes over and hungry fish can’t resist. Remove mold tabs before using.
